19-year-old sued by family after she surprisingly receives grandfather's $8 million inheritance: 'I did nothing wrong!'

This young woman had no idea that her estranged grandfather was going to leave everything for her in his will. It turns out that her family had no idea either.

This story serves as yet another potent reminder that money has the ability to turn people against each other, even the closest of family members. The truth is that no one liked this grandfather. He got a divorce from the author's grandmother when her father was young and fully disappeared for decades. 

Later in life, he started to make more of an effort, even if he was a bitter old man and the damage had already been done. Regardless, he started to hang out more with his son's family for the occasional week-long visit. That's when the author met him. The two sort of got along, mostly because the author had formed a strong familial bond with her grandfather's sister. Apparently, her behavior was enough for the grandfather to feel like the author was worth giving his entire inheritance to once he was gone. 

To say that the author was shocked to learn about this was an understatement. Not only was she surprised to learn that she was given anything at all, but she was also even more taken aback when she discovered that she had been given over $8 million from him. This, of course, was when the rest of her family began to turn on her.
